Recent research conducted by the Insurance Council of Australia (ICA) and the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) has unveiled a concerning trend: approximately 14% of Australian travellers embark on international journeys without any form of travel insurance.
This statistic has prompted Allianz Partners to urge Australians to reconsider the importance of securing adequate coverage before travelling abroad.

Damien Arthur, Executive Head of Travel at Allianz Partners Australia, expressed concern over the findings, noting that many travellers forgo insurance under the assumption that their destination is safe. However, this perspective overlooks potential risks such as accidents, medical emergencies, and travel disruptions, all of which can lead to significant financial burdens if uninsured.

The study further revealed that among those who chose not to purchase travel insurance, 31% believed their destination was safe, 27% considered insurance to be poor value, and 22% felt confident in handling emergencies independently. These misconceptions highlight the need for increased awareness about the comprehensive protection that travel insurance offers.

Allianz Partners remains committed to educating Australian travellers on the importance of being prepared for unforeseen events. By securing appropriate travel insurance, individuals can ensure peace of mind and financial security, regardless of their destination.
